The Importance of Strength and Endurance Training

The Importance of Strength and Endurance Training

By Martial Artist Angel Redondo of www.maspethmartialarts.com in conjunction with Fitness Author Joshua Zitting

More often then not you will find individuals who start into fitness or sports and their main focus is purely to gain strength.   While this is important for a number of reasons, one of the key factors that tends to be overlooked is endurance.  You will come to find that pure strength doesn’t have much use in everyday life without endurance right by its side.  Strength and endurance training has incredible health benefits as well.  It will help keep you healthy and fight off illness as well as control a normal healthy weight.

It has also been found that for individuals that create and follow a strength and endurance routine and stick to it not only live with a better quality of life but have a better overall image of self.  Having a healthy body and healthy mind only lends to better overall happiness.  The other reason is that everything in fitness is measurable, therefore it’s easy to track results.  Individuals who track their results stick to their programs longer, and have a happier outlook on continuing the program.

Health Benefits of Strength and Endurance Training include:

Helps Manage Weight

Building strength and muscle mass will not only tone your body but will help you burn fat more efficiently increasing your overall metabolic rate.

Improves Strength

Lifting weights, or even body weight exercises will give you stronger muscles and joints.  This will not only increase your physical endurance but the overall functionality of your body.

Improves Insulin Sensitivity

Diabetes can be controlled or prevented through proper use of strength and endurance training due to the fact that it improves your sensitivity levels to insulin.  Having muscle mass helps with the storage of glucose and helps keep your body from spiking too high or low.

Improves Balance

When strengthening muscles and doing exercises that improve stability and endurance you will improve your overall balance.   Proper balance and coordination is important not only if you play sports but also for those of you older generations.   Endurance and strength training will help slow muscle loss as you age.

Builds Stronger Bones

Osteoporosis can become a problem as we age, and strength and endurance training can help slow this process or stop it completely.  Lifting weights help to promote cell growth in bones and helps increase bone density.

Other Benefits

Other Benefits of Endurance and Strength training Include:

  • Having a better self image
  • Improved body composition
  • Injury prevention
  • Increased mental health
  • Better posture

Myth Buster   –  For all the Ladies!

Lifting weights will not make you put on too much muscle mass.  It’s not going to make you bulky or bigger or slow.  Lifting weights is the fastest way to tone up and burn fat.   What will happen by lifting weights with strength and endurance training is you will build lean muscle that will help you burn fat more efficiently.

Now with all this information nothing can happen until you put it into action.  The key with strength and endurance training is to have a plan.  If you are new to training then maybe get a certified personal trainer that can help you get going.   It’s important to put the excuses away and find the time that works best for you and your lifestyle.  The best part of strength and endurance training is that once you get going, it just gets easier.  Building up your endurance will only allow you to work out longer and harder.  Once you build up your endurance, not only will your muscles work more effectively but so will your metabolism.  This is a win win situation for anyone who is either just starting into fitness or simply looking to change things up.  Which is why I believe that strength and endurance training is not only for everyone, but should be a priority.

Thanks again to my good buddy and Martial Artist Angel Redondo of www.maspethmartialarts.com for putting this together with me!

Gary Vaynerchuk on entrepreneurship and being confident

Gary Vaynerchuk – Stay Humble, But Obnoxiously Confident

Some language but such a great message!

Taking a Leap of Faith

Leap Of Faith

Business Entrepreneurship

When starting your own journey into entrepreneurship there are a couple things you need to realize.  Your belief in what you are doing is everything.  If you doubt that what you are setting out to do won’t work even the slightest bit than you should probably re-think your plan.   You see it doesn’t matter if some people think you are crazy.  It doesn’t matter if some people give you negativity or tell you something won’t work.  Only you can make that decision and take that leap of faith.   It’s called a leap of faith because when you make a “real” decision to do something you are cutting off the alternative.  You see, the word decision, or to decide is in the same family as incision.   Decide, suicide, homicide, and pesticide is the action of cutting off or to kill off.   When you make a decision its cutting off the alternative and not looking back.   I believe that if people think you are crazy for building your dream than you are actually doing something right.   So many people get caught up in the trap of just running on a hamster wheel doing what they are told.   When you do something different and out of the ordinary people may view it as odd because they don’t understand it.   Anyone in this world who was an innovator was at one point thought to be a little odd or crazy.   So believe in yourself and your dreams, and take that leap of faith.

The power of Language

Language is powerful and often misused.  Words can tear one down or build one up.  The words thats leave your mouth can either be used powerfully in this world for good or can be parasitic and eat away at the world.  Ask yourself a question?  Am I careful with my word?  Do I honor my word?    Because the truth is you are in fact your WORD and when in fact you learn to honor that word you will live life much more powerfully.  The word “but” is like nails on a chalk board.  “but” always follows with an excuse. It keeps you in the corner.  Excuses hold you back from greatness.  It keeps you living in FEAR and a life of what IF’s when in fact you do in fact have greatness within you.   If you want things in your life to change you have to change!  Don’t be afraid to fail. Failing does not make you a failure.  Quitting does.   If you keep doing the same things over and over and expect a different result that is in fact the definition of insanity.  Change your thoughts, which will in turn change your actions, and when you change your actions, you will get different results.  Therefor your thoughts truly do form your life.  So be well aware of thinking patterns and start moving towards the best YOU!   – Joshua Zitting

Falling in Love with – Failure

Amongst the many business mentors I have had in my life there is one in particular that comes to mind that has shifted my thinking patterns the most.  This gentleman taught me to fall in love and have a deep understanding of what failure really is.   You see when we were young kids in school a lot people didn’t want to raise their hand or have the spotlight.  Most children are afraid to try to answer a question and get it wrong.  They don’t want to be laughed at or ridiculed for not knowing the answer and kids can be brutal with the laughing and teasing.  We need to start teaching our children that failure is a good thing. In fact we should call on the kid that doesn’t know the answer, help walk him through it, and than applaud him for being brave enough to push through it without having the answer.    I grew up in sports so I had to quickly understand that sometimes you practice really hard, get up to bat, and still strikeout.  If you never get up to bat at all, you never even give yourself a chance of ever hitting the ball.   The key is you can’t quit.  You have to learn from your failures and build upon them so you continue to stretch the very cloth of what it is to be human.  Failure is a building block to success and when you look at a successful person you must understand they weren’t always that way.  There was sacrifice and hard work, sweat, failure over and over and over again behind that successful person.   Learn to love and use failure as a tool and stop letting the fear and that pesky “voice” in your head slow you down.
